Safety always takes priority over completing the itinerary.

Do these packages include swimming with dolphins?

Our tours do not include organised swimming sessions or forced interactions with pink river dolphins (botos). Our approach is grounded in ecological sustainability and respect for wildlife — interactions of that kind, however well-intentioned, place undue stress on wild animals. That said, pink river dolphins are frequently encountered naturally during river excursions, and spotting them in their habitat — on their own terms — is a far more rewarding experience than any staged encounter. You may well see them without any prompting at all.

Will I need cash during the trip?

Bringing some cash is recommended for drinks, gratuities, or personal expenses not explicitly included in the package. Remote areas may not always accept cards or digital payment methods.

How much should I tip guides and local staff in the Amazon?

Accepted Answer

Tipping in the Amazon is always optional, but it is appreciated if you are happy with the service provided. Travellers often bring some Brazilian Reais (BRL) in cash for guides, boat drivers, lodge staff, or community hosts. Cash can also be useful when visiting riverside communities or more remote areas of the Amazon, where you may want to buy local crafts, souvenirs, drinks, or small personal items. Card payments are not always available in these places.

Yes — in Manaus we recommend hotels close to the Teatro Amazonas: Ibis Styles, Hotel Saint Paul, Villa Amazônia, Juma Opera Hotel. We don't book the hotel for you, but our partner can pick you up at any of them. If you stay extra nights before the transfer starts, those nights are not part of the package — you cover them separately.

How many kilometers do we walk per day in the Amazon? Suitable for older guests?

Walks are typically 2 to 6 km per day at a very relaxed pace — we focus on deep immersion rather than rushing. We stop often to admire trees, learn about medicinal plants, and understand the ecosystem. Older travelers in good general health handle it beautifully. If you're planning a trip with seniors, we'll send a complete day-by-day breakdown so you can review the activity level.

Pantanal or Amazon, which is the best place to see wildlife?

For sheer reliability of wildlife sightings, the Pantanal has the edge. Its open wetlands mean animals — jaguars included — are far easier to spot at close range, with far less vegetation obscuring the view. The Amazon offers something distinct: a denser, wilder environment where river exploration, extraordinary biodiversity, and the sense of true rainforest immersion are the draw. Wildlife is present in extraordinary variety — pink river dolphins, giant river otters, monkeys, sloths, caimans, and hundreds of bird species — but the thick canopy does make spotting them more of an art. Many travellers who want the full picture choose to combine both destinations on the same trip.
