4-day Jalapão Tour in Tocantins, Brazil

Brazil
3 Nights·4 Days

Overview

This 4-day Jalapão tour offers an immersive journey into one of Brazil's most preserved wildernesses, traversing the three gateway cities of Jalapão State Park: Ponte Alta do Tocantins, Mateiros and São Félix do Tocantins. The itinerary blends adventure with natural wonder, leading you through rugged trails, the Jalapão waterfalls, rock formations, golden dunes and the iconic fervedouros (springs impossible to sink in).

This Jalapão tour also offers cultural immersion through visits to local quilombola communities, with one overnight in each of the three key cities for a restful, well-paced trip. We call this adventure Vivências: intense contact with nature and a deep connection with the local communities of Jalapão in Brazil, all about extraordinary landscapes and unforgettable memories.

  • A full itinerary: hiking, fervedouros, waterfalls, rafting and river beaches.
  • A deep dive into the less-visited areas of Jalapão State Park, reachable only by 4x4.
  • Iconic attractions: Pedra Furada, Sussuapara Canyon, Formiga Waterfall, multiple fervedouros in Jalapão, plus the golden dunes.
  • Engagement with local quilombola communities (Rio Novo, Mumbuca and Prata).
  • Comfortable stays across Ponte Alta do Tocantins, Mateiros and São Félix do Tocantins.
  • All-inclusive experience: round-trip transfer, accommodation, meals and local guides.
  • Please note: This is an active 4×4-based circuit of Jalapão State Park (the ‘Vivências’ program), with full days of hiking, fervedouros, waterfalls and rock formations. Some activities are optional and carry an extra cost (e.g., the Morro do Sereno sunrise hike and Class II rafting). Breakfast on Day 1 and dinner on the last day are not included.
