To join the course, you must be at least 10 years old and plan for a minimum 5-day stay on the island. Day 1

The Open Water diving course runs over a minimum of five days, combining evening theory sessions with practical, in-water training in the afternoons. The exact daily schedule is set by your instructor and adapts to sea conditions and your progress — the structure below is a typical flow.

Across the course you complete the theory of diving — equipment, breathing, safe ascents, planning and underwater communication — in guided evening lessons, leaving your days free to enjoy the island.

Day 2

Beach training dives — 2 dives

You begin in shallow beach (or pool) conditions, where your instructor guides you through the core skills until you feel comfortable and confident in the water before heading out to sea.

Day 3

Boat dives — 4 dives across Noronha's dive sites

Two boat departures, each with two dives, take you to some of Noronha’s most remarkable underwater sites, to a maximum depth of 18 m. Your instructor stays beside you, consolidating your skills on real dives among reefs, rocky formations and marine life.

Day 4

International certification

After successfully completing the theory and practical dives, you receive your internationally recognized Open Water Diver certification (PADI, SSI or NAUI), allowing you to keep diving up to 18 m anywhere in the world.
