Day 1

Vale do Pati viewpoint + waterfalls

Welcome to Chapada Diamantina! At 6:30 a.m. a transfer brings you to the village of Guiné, the starting point, where your guide briefs you and checks your equipment. The Pati Valley hike begins with a 1-hour climb up Aleixos, rewarded with incredible mountain views, then continues through flatlands, streams and the area known as Gerais do Rio Preto to the Vale do Pati viewpoint. After a picnic at Lajeado Waterfall you cool off at the 30-meter Funis Waterfall and its natural pool, then reach the Igrejinha homestay for dinner and a campfire on your first night.

Day 2

Morro do Castelo & cave

After a good night’s sleep and breakfast, today’s adventure is the steep two-hour climb to Morro do Castelo, leading through lush forest into an impressive cave. With torches you navigate to a viewpoint with breathtaking panoramic views of the entire valley, then picnic on the summit. The descent mixes rocky terrain and quiet forest paths down to the Cachoeira das Bananeiras for a refreshing swim. You spend your second night at Mr. Wilson’s house, a cornerstone of the experience, hosting travelers since 1997.

Day 3

Calixto or Poço da Árvore (your choice)

After a hearty breakfast you choose between two options. For more challenge and sweat, head to Calixto, a mix of uphill and downhill through forest of big trees and lively rocks, rewarded by the stunning 40-meter Calixto Waterfall. For a chiller day, Poço da Árvore offers a natural pool and waterfalls surrounded by lush greenery and canyons. Either way you head back to your homestay, watching a beautiful sunset turn the canyons to gold before your last night in the valley.

Day 4

Cachoeirão lookout › return to Guiné

On your last day, after breakfast with your host family, you choose between the challenging Prefeitura’s Rift, with a unique view of Morro do Castelo, or a gentler climb. You then reach the Cachoeirão viewpoint with its breathtaking 260-meter vista; after rain you may see over 20 waterfalls cascading down the cliffs. After a final picnic and a dip in the Cachoeirão pool, you return across the flatlands of Gerais do Rio Preto and descend via Aleixo’s Trail, watching a last sunset before arriving in Guiné around 4 p.m. for the transfer to Lençóis.
