Day 1

Guiné › Vale do Pati viewpoint › Funis waterfall

Welcome to Chapada Diamantina! You depart Lençóis at 6:30 a.m. for the village of Guiné, the starting point of the Vale do Pati trek, where your guide briefs you and checks your trekking equipment. The trek begins with a 1-hour climb to Aleixos, then continues past plains, small streams, and the elevations of Gerais do Rio Preto to the breathtaking Vale do Pati viewpoint. After a lovingly prepared picnic at the Lajeado waterfall, you cool off at the 30-meter Funis waterfall and its natural pool. Dinner and a bonfire await at the Igrejinha family home.

Day 2

Morro do Castelo & cave › Bananeiras waterfall

After a hearty breakfast comes today’s highlight: the challenging two-hour climb up Morro do Castelo, leading through lush forest into a real cave. With flashlight support you navigate to a lookout with breathtaking panoramic views over the entire valley, then enjoy a picnic on the summit. The descent mixes rocky terrain and quiet forest trails down to the Bananeiras waterfall for a refreshing swim. You spend the night at Mr. Wilson’s house, a pillar of the Vale do Pati trek experience, hosting travelers since 1997.

Day 3

Cachoeirão lookout › return to Guiné

On the final day, after coffee at your host’s home, you choose between the challenging Fenda da Prefeitura, with a unique view of Morro do Castelo, or a gentler climb to contemplate the valley. From the breathtaking 260-meter Cachoeirão lookout to more than 20 waterfalls cascading down the cliffs, the Vale do Pati trek captivates with its beauty. After a final picnic and a refreshing dip in the Cachoeirão pool, you head back across the plains of Gerais do Rio Preto, watching a last sunset before reaching Guiné around 4 p.m. and transferring to Lençóis.
